Have you heard of Plasma Therapy?

By: Dr. Anoob Pakkar-Hull, Aesthetic Consultant and Director at Laila Aesthetics

This aesthetic procedure promises to work miracles on the skin, treating wrinkles, the famous crow's feet, blemishes, as well as pimples, acne scars, amongst other imperfections. Plasma Fibroblast Therapy is yet another recent and exciting development in facial aesthetic rejuvenation.

As we get older, our body stops producing collagen, which is the protein responsible for making our skin look plump and voluminous. This consequently leading to the appearance of lines, wrinkles and sagging skin – a situation that no one really enjoys.

So what is Plasma Fibroblast Therapy and how can it help rejuvenate your skin?

Well, let’s begin with plasma, the fourth state of matter, which is less well known than the traditional solids, liquids and gases. The term 'fibroblast' simply refers to a type of cell within the connective layer of the skin, responsible for collagen production. In this treatment, we seek to activate the fibroblast cell in order to boost collagen production by applying targeted micro-trauma to the superficial layers of the skin, using plasma as the damaging agent.

As you know from your life experience, when your skin is damaged, provided there is no infection, your body will heal itself. Plasma Therapy leverages this natural process, encouraging your body to revitalise itself without any fillers or toxins. Through a hand-held precision pen, a plasma flash is emitted causing a dot to appear on the skin, stimulating tightening of the skin fibres.

This non-surgical procedure is a cost-effective and highly-effective solution to improve a person’s skin and give it a more youthful appearance by tightening loose and sagging skin. With Plasma Therapy a lot of the risks imposed by invasive skin rejuvenation treatments are minimised, where skin can be burnt off or cut away, causing damage, scarring and increased discomfort.

This photo shows the result following 2 sessions of Plasma Pro with an interval of 5 weeks between each session.

There are many advantages of Plasma Therapy compared to going under the knife:

Conclusion

As you age you start to notice all kinds of changes in your skin. Previously, the only way to treat these issues was with invasive methods, such as surgery, injections or laser treatment. With Plasma Therapy, we are able to treat these concerns in a less invasive way. This safe and highly effective skin treatment addresses your skin concerns with outstanding, long-lasting results.

The process can take upwards of weeks to months, but you usually can see immediate results. If you’re looking to combat signs of ageing but are not ready for traditional surgical procedures, you might be a perfect candidate for non-invasive plasma energy treatment.
